We are seeking a credentialed Movement Teacher to lead our new program for the 2022-2023 school year that will offer communal experiences of well-being, playfulness, and confidence for dancers of all ages and abilities.
You will have 5+ years teaching experience in the field of creative movement and will be credentialed in Eurythmy training, dance training, dancing for health and fitness, and/or social dance in the community. You will provide a varied and dynamic social movement curriculum for EC-8th grade which mirrors the whole education at the Waldorf School of Philadelphia, including a repertoire of international and historic dance.
As Movement Teacher you will establish and lead the Movement Program for students in the Early Childhood Program through 8th Grade focusing on social movement and dance, storytelling, and spatial awareness. You will ensure the Movement Program is aligned with our school's mission and based on the Waldorf approach to child development, the Movement Teacher will bring a comprehensive age-appropriate curriculum to the students. Delivering and practicing teaching based on the ever evolving needs of students of our time, and supporting the principals of global citizenship by selecting teaching material carefully in accordance with the school's stated Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice goals.
The Movement Teacher will deliver the program through a variety of social movement modalities that could include folk dancing, spatial dynamics, and eurythmy principles to ensure the educational needs of each child are met, ensuring that the educational practices of Movement Program adhere to and actively support the AWSNA Principles for Waldorf Schools.
