Asheville Waldorf School:

The Asheville Waldorf School is entering its twelfth school year. In the 2022/23 school year, we will offer multiple parent-child classes, two nursery classes, two kindergartens, and First through Seventh/ Eighth grades. With an enrollment of around 170, our growth has been consistent even through the challenges of COVID-19, and our class sizes are healthy.

The Asheville Waldorf became an associate member of WECAN in 2017 and of AWSNA in 2018. Our organization consists of a cohesive and striving Faculty, a Board of Directors that draws members from both the Parent body and the community, a committed Administration (an Administrative Chair, Office Manager, Business Manager, and Director of Admissions), and a loving and involved community of parents and families.

Social Renewal, Earth Stewardship, and Human Connections are our core pillars at Asheville Waldorf School. Diversity enriches our learning and work environments by exposing us to a broad range of ways to understand the world, to identify challenges, and to discover and deliver solutions - thereby allowing our entire community to thrive.

It is an exciting time at Asheville Waldorf School. After years of searching, we have found land for our permanent home and are breaking ground in the coming school year!

Asheville, North Carolina:

Asheville is an ideal place to live, well known and visited for its beautiful outdoors (it is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and three National Forests, and at the confluence of two major rivers), its abundance of activity options that come with the landscape and ecosystem, and its rich arts, crafts, and music culture. Asheville’s many restaurants and micro-breweries make it a highly sought tourist destination. Local sustainable agriculture is also a hallmark of this town, which supports seventeen Farmers' Markets for less than 100,000 residents. If you like to eat local organic food, participate in public music events (like community chorus), and be immersed in the arts, it is a great place where you will be warmly welcomed.

Asheville, North Carolina, is vibrant with a welcoming creative spirit. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it is known for its thriving artistic community, progressive mindset, and booming food and music scene.

It is an exciting time at AWS. After years of searching, we have found land for our permanent home and are transitioning there in the fall of 2023. After developing new rhythms around the unprecedented circumstances of COVID-19, we look forward to the opportunities that the new year brings. With a reinvigorated commitment to diversification, and strengthening our community connections, we look forward to what the years ahead hold for our school.
