Credo High School is a tuition-free, college-prep, Public Waldorf independent charter school authorized by the Cotati Rohnert Park Unified School District. Credo offers a rigorous academic curriculum that exceeds the University of California (“a-g”) admission requirements and includes a full complement of enrichment subjects, including Spanish, Mandarin, visual arts (painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture), practical arts (media arts, blacksmithing, woodworking, and biodynamic gardening and farming), theater, music (Choir, American Music, Orchestra, Beginning Instruments, and World Percussion), movement, dance and physical education, and a social-emotional learning curriculum.

Education Director Job Description

Overview

Credo's education director maintains and unifies the school's pedagogical voice. In collaboration with the leadership team, he/she is responsible for day-to-day leadership and for envisioning the school's future in alignment with its mission. The education director upholds the principles and practices of Waldorf education & connects these to the purpose and promise of the school. As such, this is perceived as a collaborative leadership role, combining inspirational qualities with guarding the school's philosophical, intellectual, and societal mission.

In the 2023/24 school year, this will be a 60-80% administrative position combined with 20-40% teaching responsibilities.

Curriculum Development

  • Coordinating the development of our school curriculum in alignment with the school’s mission as well as compliance with state and federal requirements. 
  • Coordinating the collaboration of subject area departments and professional learning committees and groups.
  • Updating the course offerings annually to reflect current needs and wants. 

Professional Development for Faculty

Support the faculty and community in the ongoing integration of the three pillars of Credo's mission: Waldorf education, college preparation, and One Planet Living.

  • Collaborate with administration and stakeholders to design and facilitate a long-term vision for faculty meetings and in-service learning days.
  • Co-leading weekly all-faculty meetings. 
  • Coordinate faculty onboarding, new teacher orientation, and mentoring.
  • Coordinating Waldorf training to meet professional development needs. 

Individual Teacher Support

  • Serve as a resource and support for teachers in curriculum design and instruction.
  • Plan and review teachers' annual classroom and professional development goals.
  • Identify individual faculty professional development training and mentoring needs.
  • Visiting and observing classrooms and providing feedback to teachers.
  • Participate in the recruitment and hiring of new faculty.
  • Organizing the needed teacher resources.

Community Outreach and Parent Education

  • Co-representing the school to all its constituents, including neighbors, parents, students, alums, and the local community.
  • Organizing community-wide events to increase awareness of our school and Waldorf philosophy. 
  • Assess parent education needs and develop and deliver school and community presentations and programs as necessary.
  • Attend most community meetings, assemblies, open houses, and other significant festivals and events in the school year. 

Reporting and Evaluation

  • Support self-study processes and reporting, including the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state credentialing and other requirements.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of student assessment and reporting.
