English Language Arts Teacher Job Description (1st through 8th grade) 

Salary: $2,000 per month

Time: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:15PM  + faculty meeting Wednesdays 3:15pm - 5pm


Escuela Aurora is seeking a qualified individual to teach English Language Arts for four groups of students from first through eighth grade. This teacher will inspire students to develop an appreciation and curiosity for reading and writing concepts while developing skills necessary for the student's grade. This person will have a knowledge and passion for language arts that they seek to share with the students. This teacher will work collaboratively with other school teachers to strengthen and deepen the English Language Arts in our school. 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Knowledge of Waldorf pedagogy or a willingness and desire to learn

Familiarity with both traditional English Language Arts and common core standards instruction models

Excellent verbal and written communication

Previous teaching experience

Experience and interest in working collaboratively 

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

Responsible for teaching English Language Arts to grades 1 through 8

Have an understanding or be willing to acquire an understanding of child development based on the philosophy of Waldorf education

Have training or be willing to take it on the application of Waldorf pedagogy to your class

Develop creative, lively, and interactive lessons that encourage enthusiastic participation, skill development, self-esteem development, and social responsibility

Commitment to continuous self-development

Attend faculty meetings

Be available to substitute for other colleagues when necessary.

Be able to manage a group of up to 16 children independently at school and on field trips

Being able to work with children who need individual attention, as well as guide a whole group

Ability to lift 50 pounds, get up and off the ground repeatedly, carry a loaded backpack

Prepare and implement daily lesson plans and monthly lesson blocks.

Write student reports for English Language Arts class and share observations with the Head 

Teacher of each group

Attend and participate in the preparation of assemblies and festivals.

Participate in school community and public relations events (eg, open house).

Participate in (and share the cost of) approved annual professional development

Willingness to follow and maintain the minimum health and safety guidelines established by the school regarding COVID-19 precautions for students, parents, faculty, and staff
