We are located on the ancestral lands of the Maidu people in the serene Pocket Area of Sacramento CA. Founded in 1989, Camellia is an AWSNA-accredited school with 185 students from diverse backgrounds. Our 3-acre campus is nestled on the bank of the Sacramento River beneath towering pines. We offer classes from preschool through eighth grade, and our program includes Spanish, Strings, Choir, Handwork, Woodworking, Movement, Gardening, Circus Arts, and Sports teams.

What We Are Looking For:

Camellia Waldorf School is seeking an experienced full-time Lead Kindergarten Teacher for our 5-day kindergarten Program. Due to increased enrollment, we are adding a third kindergarten classroom to our program. This position is for the new third kindergarten. The teacher will work closely with the Early Childhood Faculty planning festivals, having weekly meetings, and continuing to build a full and healthy program.  

The ideal candidate will have teaching experience in Waldorf early childhood and will have demonstrated success working with children, parents, and colleagues in a previous Waldorf school environment. In addition to a bachelor’s degree and Waldorf Early Childhood Certification, the position requires excellent communication and organization skills, a high degree of warmth, creativity, and initiative to work with students, parents, and colleagues.  

The Lead Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for leading children ages 4 – 6 years in our Kindergarten Program using the Pedagogy of Waldorf Education.

Requirements: 

  • Waldorf Teaching Certificate (Lifeways, WECAN, etc.)  
  • Teaching experience in a Waldorf Kindergarten or Early Childhood classroom  

We seek to maintain the health of the teachers and support the continued study of anthroposophy. Base Salary: $48,325. Salary increases based on classroom teaching experience and Waldorf teaching certification.
