Learning Support Teacher ( K-8)
The Vancouver Waldorf School (VWS), located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, is seeking an experienced Learning Support Teacher (K-8).
Expectations:
- responsible for planning, developing, implementing and providing oversight of Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) based on BC Ministry of Education guidelines
- facilitate IEP team meetings and participate in parent/teacher conferences as needed during or after school hours
- provide ongoing, one-to-one and small-group learning support sessions
- engage in the regular reporting for students seen in one-to-one and small-group sessions
- carry out classroom observations, assessments such as the grade two screening and grade one readiness snapshot, and make recommendations for students identified through the referral process
- work collaboratively and provide resources and support to other Learning Support team members, Teachers, Educational Assistants, parents, administration and staff
- attend regular meetings of the VWS Care Group and weekly meetings with Learning Support teams
- collaborate with Learning Support teams and administration on the Special Education budget and allocation of Learning Support resources
- oversee the use of Learning Centre resources
- attend weekly grade school faculty meetings and monthly full faculty meetings
- collaborate as a member of various VWS committees and participate in professional development workshops and open house events
- possess competency in identifying instructional approaches for the inclusion of diverse learners
- possess excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of teaching experience
- Bachelor of Education, BC. Teaching Certificate, Diploma and/or Masters in Special Education
- Waldorf Grades training and/or experience with Waldorf education
- Extra Lesson and/or Waldorf Learning Support training

Salary: $45,150 to $66,137/year prorated to FTE based on experience and credentials
