People can have a job, a career, or a calling. Camp Augusta is looking for folks who have a calling. Work, play, learn, struggle, and grow in a vibrant community this summer facilitating the growth of children, yourself, and others in the community. Camp Augusta is different from most camps because we operate on a structure of flat hierarchy, consensus and intentionality. We also have many activities that you are unlikely to find at other camps and are seeking teachers to come inspire our campers and community this summer.
We are currently seeking an Arts Director for the summer of 2023!
The Arts Director is a jack of all crafty trades. They nurture the creative spirit of camp by bringing dozens of diverse art clinics to life for both campers and staff. From ordering and organizing supplies to training counselors to facilitating clinics, the Arts Director manages all aspects of arts programming. Their typical days include: teaching a clinic, preparing, ordering and maintaining supplies for clinics to run, balancing the budget, teaching and supporting counselors in their growth as facilitators and many other tasks. Strong organizational and leadership skills are a must, and fresh ideas to keep our program evolving and exciting are always welcome!
We aim to give children the experience of living without many of the modern conveniences that are present in their everyday lives. They get the chance to experience living in an open-air cabin without electricity. We offer a variety of activities that they may not have tried or even seen before: silk batik, shibori, wood burning, poi and staff spinning, high and low ropes, and horseback riding to name a few. There is a great deal of information on our website regarding the philosophy of camp and the activities we offer. If you are interested in Camp Augusta, please look those over carefully.
