Established in 1995, Sebastopol Charter is a K-8 public charter school guided by the core principles of Public Waldorf Education. The mission of the school is to provide an education that nurtures the development of the whole child, to teach and encourage each child to become a lifelong learner, and to become a benefit to the community and society.
The Charter Foundation is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1998 to raise money for the creation and ongoing support of Sebastopol Charter School. The Foundation currently holds $9 million in assets, consisting primarily of the school’s new 20-acre campus located at 1111 Hwy 116 N in Sebastopol, CA.
The funding for the Foundation comes principally from the pledge donations of our school families, along with various fundraising programs and events throughout the year. In school year 2021-2022, 98% of school families collectively pledged about $270,000 to the Foundation.
The Foundation is overseen and directed by its Board of Directors, which oversees its finances, fundraising, and building maintenance. The Board maintains close cooperation with the School Board and administration.
