City Garden Waldorf School is a mixed-age Waldorf preschool and kindergarten located in East Pilsen in Chicago. City Garden is looking for a qualified candidate to fill a position for an assistant teacher starting immediately. The qualified candidate will also be considered for our summer program and an assistant position for the 2025-2026 school year.

An assistant teacher at City Garden is expected to fulfill all of the requirements for employment in a daycare as required by DCFS including a high school diploma and membership in Illinois Gateway to Opportunity, and must pass a background check.

Responsibilities for this position include:

-maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the children enrolled in our program.

-assist the Lead Teacher in implementing and supervising learning, growth, and play opportunities for children in our program.

-direct young children and follow the City Garden Guidance and Discipline Policies

-assist in preparing and cleaning up snacks, cleaning and sanitizing classroom and learning resources

-maintain open communication with the Lead Teacher and the Director

-meet all applicable licensing standards and City Garden policies and procedures

-maintain a good working relationship with colleagues and a warm and nurturing attitude toward the children

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
