Edge Hill Country School is an independent school and non-profit organization offering 

education inspired by the Waldorf curriculum for children from Kindergarten to Grade 8. 

Edge Hill is situated outside the town of Durham, Ontario on the edge of farmland in an 

original Ontario schoolhouse with two other buildings on a natural playground. We are 

within half an hour of the beauty of the Bruce Peninsula on Lake Huron and about two 

hours north of Toronto, Canada’s largest city. 

We are seeking a warm and enthusiastic assistant for our Waldorf kindergarten. 

Foundation Studies and Waldorf Early Childhood Training are recommended. 

Knowledge and experience in a Waldorf childcare or classroom setting is essential. First 

Aid + CPR as well as Food Safety Certificates are required. 

We are seeking a candidate who has the following general skills: cooking, baking, 

organization, art, handwork, singing and a love for nature and outdoor education. The 

candidate's duties will include: supporting the delivery of the daily, weekly and seasonal 

rhythm of a Waldorf kindergarten, modelling the Waldorf developmental approach of 

imitation, classroom management skills that are appropriate to the age group and 

Waldorf philosophy, excellent organizational skills, ability to work effectively with the 

lead kindergarten teachers, maintaining an aesthetically pleasing space for the children, 

providing and maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary classroom, building excellent 

rapport and relationship with families, generating openness and inclusivity.

We are now accepting applications for the position of Kindergarten Assistant for the 

2022-2023 school year, hours being 8:15-3:30 Monday-Thursday plus one 1 hour 

meeting per week. We offer a competitive hourly rate.
