We extend a warm welcome to Garden House Waldorf School. Our school community has a rich history that began in 2008 as Garden House Kindergarten, offering early years classes such as kindergarten and playgroups, following the Waldorf methodology.
In 2019, Garden House Kindergarten received recognition from the International Association for Steiner/Waldorf Early Childhood Education (IASWECE). This acknowledgment led to the renaming of our institution as Garden House Waldorf Kindergarten.
With the support of a passionate family interested in expanding our educational offerings, Garden House Waldorf School was established in 2022. Our school now includes both Garden House Kindergarten and Garden House Primary, providing a continuous educational journey for children.
At Garden House Waldorf School, we believe that education encompasses more than traditional academics. We embrace the principles of Waldorf education. Our dedicated teachers and parents create a vibrant community where children can experience joyful and creative learning.
School Mission
We are here to ignite a love of learning within each student and create an environment that fosters growth and inspiration by awakening and nourishing the unique capacities of each child in all dimensions physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Our curriculum, grounded in artistic and practical work, is designed to foster intellectual curiosity, social sensitivity and physical stamina, thereby developing within each student a feeling for beauty, clarity of thought, and a strong inner motivation.
School Vision
To cultivate the whole child as an integrated being, imbued with imagination and a sense of truth and responsibility. Our curriculum, combining sciences, arts, and crafts, is situated in and connected to the natural world, fostering integrated thinking and intellectual flexibility. We believe that Waldorf education should be accessible to children from all socioeconomic backgrounds, not just the privileged few. That's why we draw children from diverse economic backgrounds.
Our Faculty
The faculty is a group of early childhood teachers, kindergarten teachers, primary school class teachers, special subject teachers and administrative staff. Together they are dedicated to bringing the children a living experience of Waldorf education. The Faculty meets each Thursday afternoon for scheduling and organisational work, to study pedagogical topics and to hold child studies together, as well as to discuss and decide on festivals, special events and important administrative or business matters. This meeting is also used for artistic enrichment (including painting, speech work, singing, games, form drawing and eurythmy) and group study to deepen their understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and to develop their capacities for perceiving the individual children.
These meetings allow faculty members to deepen their understanding of general educational practices, enrich themselves and develop a broader perspective on the needs of individual children. The group is led by a faculty chairperson who, in cooperation with faculty members, sets the agenda for meetings and facilitates a smooth running of these meetings.
In addition to the general faculty, Kindergarten and Primary faculty meet separately to discuss the pedagogy and business of the respective areas of the school.
