we are a small group of families with toddlers. We have a total of eight children with a few in waiting. Our goal is to keep our children as registered homeschoolers as they grow up. We are looking for a Waldorf teacher to move up with the children each grade. Most of the children are 2.5 to three years old right now. we would like to keep them in a mixed age kindergarten class til they are 7 then formally start the first grade waldorf curriculum with them.
Currently we rent space from a church and we lease about 2 acres of land with a Playground and field. The Church is also a hop away from a nature preserve that the kids can hike to. Our vision is to one day secure land of our own and move the school there.
We are looking for a teacher who is looking for a 15 year career with us as our children move up in grades with you.
We have designed our school as a cooperative. Parents rotate in the classroom, providing snacks and nourishing organic seasonal lunch. A couple of the families are chiropractors and value the principles of the four fold path of healing by thomas cowan, whose work incorporates Steiners. other parents manage the finances, volunteer calendar, etc. While some of the families are vaguely familiar with Waldorf education, they understand this is the philosophy we would like to grow into. Here in maine, the seasons and landscape offer so much opportunity to be in nature and we hope you're up time spent outdoors. We also hope you have eurythmy training or are willing to seek training.
At this point, we don't have a Facebook page or any social media. We communicate with one another via email so unfortunately there's not much to share other than lots of photos of our property and the families.
The church is located in South Portland, Maine, with many families in the greater Portland area. Our vision is to find land in close proximity to the city.
For now, Im leading the classroom but I am looking forward to passing this torch to a qualified teacher. I'm just making things up as I go with my background in children's theater. Although most of our curriculum right now is based around potty training :)
