We are a group of homeschool parents bound together to make a difference in our children’s education by offering a private, Waldorf-based learning environment for children ages 3-8. The primary focus of our curriculum is free play (for social health), curative movement, circle time with songs, poems, handwork, beeswax, drawing and watercolor. We are not focusing on “product” as much as engagement and social wellness. Waldorf teaching is dedicated to nurturing the child’s capacities of imagination, healthy emotional development, independent thinking, positive action and discovering new surroundings as a whole.
The children meet a minimum of 2 days, and maximum 3 days per week (5 hours each day) at a private residence in Newcastle, CA. A wholesome snack is provided by the teacher and lunch is to be provided by parents.
This is a collaborative, parent and teacher led group therefore bringing a great sense of community. There is support, trust and love surrounding this group and with that said, there is also work, time and commitment involved. To be considered for this group, we ask that you allow for approximately 4 hours of volunteer time each month and/or to have a “role” within the group to assist in governing the school. Community volunteer hours may include but are not limited to: attending school meetings, cleaning and maintenance of the classroom and/or grounds, taking a “lead role” to assist in running the school, assistance in coordinating events, updating documents, community outreach, coordinating fund raisers, etc.
