Job Posting: Assistant Kindergarten Teacher and Aftercare Program Director
The Pine Siskin School is a small Waldorf based program located in Sisters, Oregon serving children preK - grade one. We just finished our first full school year and are excited for the energy the program has and the wonderful support of our community. There are two of us that run the school together, we are both Waldorf trained teachers that met and became friends teaching together in Bend. Upon moving back to Sisters and having my own children, I dreamt creating the rich experience of a Waldorf program here in my home town for my own children and the community.
We are looking for a new full time teaching member to our small team. Ideally this person is knowledgeable of Waldorf Education, and has their Waldorf teacher training. We would be interested in someone that was near completing their training or who has other educational backgrounds and is highly interested in the Waldorf pedagogy.
The kindergarten assistant hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 - 12:00. Our after school program starts at 1:00, so the teacher will have an hour break and then return as the lead teacher for aftercare offered from 1:00 - 4:15. We have a half day Friday program that runs 8:30 - 12:30, this could be an option for additional hours if desired.
With our small school being located in the center of Sisters, we have wonderful accessibility of the town and often take the children to the public parks, splash pad and sometimes to the creek. Our program has a relationship with a local farm and spends every Wednesday at the farm during the fall and spring months. Friday care is also held at the farm during those times.
