At the Red Barn Playhouse, our mission is to offer:
Play and imagination, social development, language development, spatial and physical development, a view of the world as a place of beauty and wonder. Nurturing the senses - beauty, natural setting, natural materials, music, movement and exposure to the elements (water, fire, earth, air) Rhythm- balance between activity and rest - in breath and out breath Imitation - skill building, doing real work - helping to prepare snack, keeping our space tidy, working in the garden, making bread, handwork Not a preschool. While we follow a curriculum, the focus is not on intellectual work. New story and theme each month, verses, crafts, seasonally focused activities. Play-based, nature-immersed, waldorf-inspired, child-centered program. The Red Barn Playhouse is in a restored 1905 barn. It has two classrooms, a huge south facing deck, a 1/4 acre playscape and lots of gardens. It is an early childhood program for ages 2-6, Monday-Thursday, 10-12 children.
