The Saugeen Academy is a Waldorf-inspired high school that offers students an experiential, hands on education that supports intellectual, artistic and social development of youth grades 7-12. Founded in 2021, the school is housed in a beautiful hundred-year-old church, fully equipped with classrooms, kitchens, a library, a lounge and a performance space auditorium.
The Saugeen Academy believes in independent, critical inquiry in an unencumbered, hands on learning environment. In addition to the pedagogical advantages of the Waldorf approach, the school offers additional benefits through the value it places on community collaboration as well as preparing students in their final year for the SAT or GED test which enables University and College entrance or employment. The Saugeen Academy emphasizes relationships with other Waldorf high schools and the local community through collaborative outreach initiatives and performances and benefits from a close connection to Glencolton Farm, a local biodynamic farm and the Symphony in the Barn, a performing arts initiative.
