We are in partnership with an Indigenous community deep in the Ecuadorian Amazon, helping them create a Private Indigenous-Led, Waldorf Inspired, Life-Centered School. We are looking for:
High School Teacher - We have an immediate need for someone who has the capacity to help start up a high school. As a high school teacher, you will have full support from our Waldorf team and project director who lives in the community
Requirment - Intermediate Spanish. Said better, your level of Spanish should allow you to communicate your teaching effectively at the grade level of the students.
This project emerged in response to the Achuar community's request for education that preserves their culture and land. In collaboration with the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training, Children of the Rainforest, Kusi Kawsay Andean School, and Sharamentsa Initiative, you will embark on a deeply fulfilling and transformative experience. Immersed in a community dedicated to environmental stewardship and cultural preservation, you will play a crucial role in establishing an "Indigenous-Led, Waldorf Inspired, Life-Centered" school.
This collaboration expands traditional teaching methods, enriching your pedagogical approach with holistic education principles that honor the interconnectedness of learning, nature, and community. By embracing Achuar wisdom, you will help create an educational environment that respects and celebrates Indigenous knowledge, preparing young minds to navigate modern challenges while safeguarding their cultural heritage. Currently, their children leave the community to a small town for high school, which exposes them to a lifestyle and education that forces the culture out of them.
. Teachers will live here in the community, have their own private quarters with a private bathroom, 24-hour access to the internet via Starlink satellite, and provided housekeeping and meals.
