Starting Immediately: Looking for a farm-resident early childhood educator.
We are especially interested in someone with some Waldorf background.
Come live on a beautiful organic farm on the coast of Maine to take care of some awesome farm kids. We have all the facilities for outdoor cooking, outdoor playing, an amazing library of agricultural and children's literature, places for puppet shows, trails and wagons and animals. We run a grocery store and commercial kitchen, we harvest herbs, blueberries, cranberries and fruit from our diverse certified organic farm and host workshops and artists.
We are looking for a very dedicated human who loves to play with babies, loves the ocean and the farmy life, can safely drive and navigate life in a super rural town. We can offer you a private room in a shared house along the river, or a wooden yurt on the farm with access to extraordinary nature and a regular rhythm of employment. We can pay as a regular part time employee with workman's comp. at 25 hours, $25 / hour with possibility to expand into other roles on the farm if you are interested ( farmstore cashier, packing seaweed, seedling care, wild harvest of herbs etc). We need help with babies from 8am to noon with a few afternoons as well in the week when there are meetings/ projects to attend to. Most often we work all together in the field with the babies along, but another pair of loving arms is so very needed.
We now have 2 babies ( 5 months and almost 2) and other babies nearby who are interested to join in the fun if we could grow a bigger program. We are therefore suggesting that this may also be a role for a person who wants to help create a Waldorf/ Pickler/ Montessori-inspired playgroup to be located eventually in its own building, but for now between the various spaces we have already prepared on our campus.
OFFICE@smithereenfarm.com to inquire/ send resume. We ask that you research our situation and write your cover leter in reflection of why this place may be a good fit for you in your life journey, and what particular interests/ needs/ experiences are of relevance. We welcome a visit to our farm here in Washington County Maine to see the beauty firsthand and to also encounter the reality of our rurality, which is not a fit for everyone!
In addition to the farm, we run educational programming for older kids throughout the summer, www.greenhorns.org and one particularly good event that needs all hands on deck is the Alewife festival May 25th, with student field trip programming May 24th as well.
Thank you very much for helping to spread the word
