Spring River School, established in 2014 as an initiative of the Jacksonville Educational Community, is a parent- and educator-founded nonprofit serving homeschooling families along the Northeast Florida coast. All programs are designed to support home education while offering professional instruction within a strong, values-aligned community. At the K–8 level, all programming is fully outdoor and includes a Forest School nature immersion program, a four-day Waldorf-inspired academic program, and a two-day homeschool enrichment option. Spring River also offers a homeschool high school program, delivered in an indoor classroom setting, focused on academic rigor, mentorship, and preparation for life beyond secondary education.
Spring River School offers educators the opportunity to practice Waldorf-inspired pedagogy rooted in living anthroposophy—not as theory, but as a lived, reflective practice expressed through rhythm, relationship, and reverence for the developing human being. Faculty work in direct relationship with nature and in authentic partnership with homeschooling families, engaging seasonal rhythms, experiential learning, and developmentally attuned curriculum that support both child development and teacher creativity.
Teachers are part of a collegial professional community that values autonomy, reflective practice, and shared responsibility. Educators are supported through collaboration, mentoring, and a governance structure that honors pedagogical insight while providing clear administrative support. For those seeking meaningful work outside conventional school systems—yet within a thoughtful, coherent educational framework—Spring River offers a place to bring one’s craft, grow professionally, and contribute to a mission-centered learning community.
