We are a little school with a big bright spirit and we are seeking a Waldorf trained and  experienced teacher with interest in Ancestral Skills to join our team as the Kindergarten  teacher for the 2022/23 school year. This candidate must have strong work habits, impeccable  classroom management skills and a burning passion for being in nature with children.  

The Hedge is a wildly inspired new educational endeavor for grades K-4 located on 30 plus  acres of forest, meadow and wetland in Sandpoint Idaho. As experienced Waldorf teachers,  here we are marrying Waldorf education with deep nature connection. In addition to the Main  Lesson curriculum, foreign languages and traditional handwork class, Earth based ritual and  Ancestral Skills are woven into the school day. At the start of each school day we gather as a  full school to give thanks for the day, the land we gather on to learn, the four directions, one  another, our ancestors.  Our work is a ceremony. We feel deeply blessed to witness this new  education unfold and to be its humble midwife. Our hope is to expand from 24 students to 30  students for the 2022/2023 school year.  

The Hedge runs from Monday through Thursday from 9-3 for elementary students and 9 -1 for  Kindergarten with an optional Friday Deep Nature Program for elementary students. We run on  an alternative school calendar which allows for teaching and learning in all four seasons with  long restorative breaks throughout the year. We aim to create and maintain school rhythms  that are life affirming and sustaining and allow for students and teachers to thrive physically,  emotionally and socially. 

The Kindergarten teacher for the 2022/23 school year will hold a small Kindergarten program  for six students aged 5-6. The position is an hourly position with school day hours of Monday  through Thursday from 8:45 - 1:15 with hourly pay for additional responsibilities which include  parent meetings, bi-monthly teacher meetings, festival planning and attendance. This class will  become a k/1 in 2023/24 and continue through the grades. Similarly, this position has the  potential to grow into a salaried position for a combined class as it moves through the grades.
