Shining Mountain Waldorf School (SMWS) is seeking an enthusiastic candidate with Waldorf teacher training for the 2024-2025 school year. SMWS currently has a 1-5 and 6-8 class teacher rotation system. The Lower School Class teacher carries primary responsibility for teaching grades 1st through 5th.  While we welcome applications from teachers experienced in the 1-8 cycle, we anticipate that the successful candidate will be moving through the grades 1st through 5th cycle.

The ideal candidate has a BA/BS or more advanced degree, is Waldorf-trained or interested in embarking on certification, and has some teaching experience. Familiarity with social health/restorative practices, Waldorf remedial training/experience, and an understanding of place based education are pluses.

SMWS is a prekindergarten through 12th grade school. We offer the full breadth of the Waldorf curriculum, which includes two world languages (Spanish and German), woodworking, handwork, movement, instrumental and choral music. The majority of our full time faculty members are Waldorf trained teachers and represent a rich spectrum of life experiences along with their strength as Waldorf educators.

SMWS is celebrating its 40th year of bringing Waldorf education to the beautiful community of Boulder, Colorado. The school is fully accredited by both the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS). Additionally, there is an active Anthroposophical community in the Denver/Boulder area.

Boulder is located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, about a 45 minute drive from Denver. It is at the heart of the organic food industry, with an award-winning farmers’ market, and many local organic bakeries and farms. The University of Colorado and numerous local organizations provide a rich variety of arts, lectures and workshops, many of which employ the talents of local community members. The quiet beauty of the natural environment offers contemplative pastimes and a full range of outdoor recreation, including world-class ski areas, and many national parks and forests.

The parent body is supportive, well informed and involved. Our Board is strong and enjoys a supportive, collaborative relationship with the Faculty. We have a highly competent administrative function with a School Director, Pedagogical Director, Admission Director, Development Director, Human Resources Director, Marketing Director, Campus Operations Director, and Business Director.

We offer a competitive Waldorf-trained base salary, along with years of experience.  Our base salary for Waldorf Trained teachers is $44,200 and years of teaching experience paid at $850 per year. SMWS has an excellent benefit package including medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability, life insurance, 401(k), and flexible spending accounts.
