Forest Kindergarten Assistant Teacher ~ 2022-2023
The primary role of the Forest Kindergarten Assistant Teacher is to support the Lead Teacher in bringing our 100% outdoor Forest Kindergarten program to the children in a warm and meaningful way. This requires active participation and understanding of the Waldorf early childhood curriculum to meet the children’s needs. Through an authentic passion both for the outdoors and young children, our teachers guide learning in nature, serve as positive role models, ensure the safety of all participants, support the physical and emotional needs of youth through the day, help set up and maintain equipment used in programming, and actively and positively contribute to daily planning and debriefing meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
Be familiar with Waldorf education
At least one-year teaching in an early childhood setting
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrated comfort in working outdoors in all seasons
Desired Qualifications
Fully trained in, or progressing towards completion, Waldorf early childhood education
Certification, college degree or coursework in early childhood and child development
Passion for, and demonstrated experience with, Waldorf education, Waldorf early childhood education, and/or outdoor, experiential education
Commitment to storytelling, singing, playing musical instruments or the arts
Certified or willing to become certified in Wilderness First Aid & CPR
Hours, Salary & Schedule
Compensation is competitive and based on experience. Typical teaching schedule runs Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with time on Mondays for staff meetings and curriculum planning. The position may be part-time or full-time.
