Assistant teacher

The ideal candidate is a warm and loving mature human being with an understanding of or sincere interest in Waldorf early childhood education, Lifeways early childhood programs, and nature-based early childhood education. Previous experience working with young children through an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices. Must have experience working with children as young as18 months.
Waldorf teacher certification is not required, and professional development is offered and supported as part of the job. This job is for you if healthy attachments and relationship based connections is at the core of your practice with young children.

We are located in an indyllic community at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains surrounded by the natural world. Though hard working, our community is a peaceful and respectful place to work with healthy collegial relationships and a commitment to supportive practices and communication.
Our regenerative/organic/biodynamic farmlette feeds the children daily and is available to the community. We are within reach of Altadena's, Pasadena's, and Los Angeles' urban centers including Waldorf and Anthroposophical communities.
At least 6 ECE units, TB test, fingerprints required.
You must be:
Hard working
a creative thinker/problem solver
Have experience working with children as young as 18 months and up to 7 years old
Love and feel comfortable in the natural world
Have a deep appreciation for children and good sense of the balance of affection and appropriate boundaries
Have experience comforting children, leading children, supporting growing independence
Able to lift 40 lbs.
In good health
A good sense of organization and tidiness
Capable at the creative and domestic arts (cleaning, cooking, and crafting. Music/singing a plus but not required)
Have a good sense of healthy nutrition for young children and an ability to prepare a simple healthy snack.
Ability to create and hold space for nap and resting
Gardening experience a plus (not mandatory)
Spanish speaking a plus (not mandatory)
Basic computer skills a plus
3-5+ years working in early childhood education
