KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

ACADEMIC YEAR 2022 - 2023 - Maternity Leave with potential for a position in future years.

The South Shore Waldorf School is currently seeking a full-time Kindergarten Teacher for September 2022. Preferably the successful candidate will have Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher training and experience teaching a Waldorf Kindergarten program. Candidates who have a serious interest in Waldorf education, are experienced educators, and have a willingness to attend teacher training will be considered. Experience working with small children is essential. Musical, artistic and storytelling abilities are an asset. Candidates should have a team spirit enabling them to work closely with the Faculty, Administration and Board in the running of the school, a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development and a willingness to enter wholeheartedly into the life of an alternative school community.

RESPONSIBILITIES, SALARY AND BENEFITS
Responsibilities and Salaries run from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. All new employees are subject to a 3 month probationary period.

Salary is $33,500.00/year. The school offers a small health allowance, mentoring, and tuition reduction for faculty children. There are also funds available to help support professional development.

Responsibilities include planning and implementing the Senior kindergarten Waldorf curriculum; students range in age from 5 to 7. Additional expectations include: communicating with parents and providing verbal reports during parent-teacher interviews, collaborating with colleagues, attending faculty and other committee meetings, school events, seasonal fairs, and in-service training as required.

Classroom hours September to June: 8:30 – 3:15, Teachers are required to come in early to prepare the classroom space and snack to have it ready for when classes begin.

Faculty meetings are Friday between 1:45- 4:30 PM

The successful applicant will need to complete a police record check and child abuse registry search. (copies required at time of hiring).

In addition to working within our Code of Conduct in support of our Faculty Mission Statement, all staff of SSWS are required to adhere to public health guidelines and school policies related to COVID-19 or other, which may include weekly testing for COVID-19.
