Position: Kindergarten Classroom Assistant

Circle of Seasons Charter School, a Public Waldorf Methods School, seeks a loving, enthusiastic Kindergarten Classroom Assistant. The Kindergarten Classroom Assistant assists the lead teacher in the classroom with various activities of the day which include: preparing snack, cleaning, and washing, as well as working one-on-one with children.

Our play-based Kindergarten program offers children a chance to cross the bridge from home to school, laying a strong foundation for the academic program that begins in first grade. This position requires an understanding of
- the importance of showing loving interest in and acceptance of each child,
- the value of self-initiated play as an essential learning activity,
- the awareness that young children learn through imitation, through experience of diverse sensory impressions, and through movement
- and the influence of focusing on real life (rather than virtual) experiences to support the child in forming a healthy relationship with the world


The Circle of Seasons Kindergarten program includes artistic activities such as storytelling, music, drawing and painting, rhythmic games, and modeling that foster the healthy development of imagination and creativity. Meaningful practical kindergarten work such as cooking, baking, gardening, handwork and domestic activity provide opportunities to develop unfolding human capacities. In Kindergarten the emphasis is on building social-emotional skills and developing the processes of living and learning in community.

Qualifications:
• Waldorf training and experience (preferred)
• Interest in Public Waldorf Education
• 1-3 years of experience working with children (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• Dedication to creating a positive, safe, joyful, nurturing learning environment as a supporting member of the kindergarten team
• Confident presence; strong social and communication skills
• Interest in supporting healthy child development
• Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues to support kindergarten community
• Participate in ongoing professional development

At Circle of Seasons we recognize the value, importance, and challenges that come with attracting and meeting the needs of diverse populations. Hours are 8:00 – 4:00 Monday through Friday. Meetings, open house events, and festivals outside of these hours may require your attendance.

The salary for this position is $34,500 and includes participation in the 403b retirement plan and COS healthcare benefits. Background clearances, physical examination and TB test will be required.
