About PVS
PVS is a Public Waldorf charter school in the Portland Public School District, serving approximately 430 students in grades K-8. Our Kindergarten program combines extensive play based learning enlivened by out-door exploration time; academically rooted in Waldorf education we integrate common core standards in developmentally appropriate ways. Our grades program encompasses an artistically focused, rigorous curriculum that is rich in literacy, language, history, and cultural studies combining real world experiences and applied knowledge. We offer an engaged school community with supportive and interactive parents and a caring and reflective staff committed to providing a joyous, reverent, child-centered education to all.

About the Position
Our Public Waldorf Kindergarten program develops the head, hands, and heart of young children through play-based exploration, extended outdoor play, nurturing adult guidance, and academic learning through participation in songs, stories, puppetry, games and other activities.

Experience working with and supporting parents and volunteers
Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and school leadership to support learning

Our Ideal Candidate Would Also Have:
Experience in Waldorf Education
Specifically the ability to model, utilize and message to families Waldorf practices within the classroom, including:
Very limited and intentional use of media
Development of wonder, reverence, respect and gratitude
Focus on developing a balanced child and self development
Willing to incorporate art across content in a variety of mediums
Participation in festivals and traditions, sometimes outside of school hours
Willingness to keep a classroom that is beautiful, organized, and aesthetically pleasing for learning
Two years experience as a teacher or kindergarten assistant preferred
Musical and artistic abilities, including experience with storytelling, puppetry and circle work
An understanding of restorative justice and PBIS in an early childhood classroom setting

Education/Certification requirements:
• Minimum University bachelor’s degree
• Elementary teaching license in the state of Oregon, or ability to be charter school registered
We are able to Charter Register skilled candidates with a Bachelor's degree who currently do not have a teaching license; we welcome you to apply if your skills fit the duties and most qualifications even if you are not currently a licensed teacher.
• Current Background Check and CPR-First Aid Training.
Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.

Compensation and Benefits
• Salary range: $44,420 to $58,560 for 1.0 FTE (prorated)
• Employer paid Medical, vision, dental, HSA for employee
• Ten paid holidays (prorated)
• Personal Time Off
• Public Employees Retirement System once vested
