Portland Waldorf School is welcoming applications for a Communications &
Development Manager to organize and oversee our upcoming Capital Campaign for
a seismic retrofit project. The CDM will create and implement a robust development
strategy to raise funds while working closely with the School Director and the
Capital Campaign committee. The CDM will take a leadership position in guiding the
Capital Campaign process, operating as the campaign administrator, and key point of
contact for communications, contributions, and grant application processes.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Prepare Capital Campaign vision and strategy
● Create and maintain capital case statement
● Guide and facilitate the Capital Campaign committee
● Manage all Capital Campaign communications
● Maintain donor profiles, create solicitation proposals
● Identify, cultivate, solicit gift prospects
● Identify, write and track grant applications
● Cultivate community relationships regarding gift opportunities
● Manage feasibility study
● Track and report Capital Campaign income goals and progress

Required Qualifications
● 3 years successful Capital Campaign experience for non-profit organizations
or independent schools
● Ability to initiate and cultivate prospective donors, key volunteers, and
foundation program officer relationships
● Proven ability to identify foundations and other entities offering grants for
qualifying projects
● Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
● Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
● Understand charitable giving tax laws
● Professional history that displays sense of initiative, ability to stay focused,
good organizational and managerial skills, ability to work collegially and
build positive internal and external relationships

Desired Qualifications
● Familiarity with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge NXT)
● Experience in leading capital projects and campaigns
● Grant writing experience
● Experience with social media networking sites
● Familiarity with MS Office and Google Suite applications
● Affiliation with local and national development professional organizations
● Certified Fundraising Executive
● Fundraising experience in a school setting

Compensation:
Compensation is negotiable, dependent upon education and experience. This
position will start as an independent contractor, with the possibility of growing into
a full-time position. Flexible hours and remote work available. Benefits are not
