Who We Are
Our core intention at The Treehouse, a Forest Garden School is to develop whole human beings by surrounding them with an environment of beauty, security, creativity and wonder. We are launching a new program in Milwaukie OR, after 11 years in inner SE Portland. With this move, we are expanding from 1 to 3 classrooms and inhabiting about 1/4 acre of green space to host a brilliant outdoor classroom, complete with emerging food forest, permaculture learning garden and more.
We are looking to hire teachers to join our school over the next year to help us sustainably open up each classroom. We are looking for teachers that are able to enliven our students with the beauty of the natural world while providing a healthy, nurturing, creative and respectful environment for each child.
2-5’s Teachers (Mixed age Class): We are hiring 1 Co-Teacher to begin in January 2022
Start Date and Timeline: Start training in December 2021 and begin teaching 35 hrs a week in Jan 2022
21-22 School Year: through June 17th, 2022
Infant and Toddler Teachers: We are hiring 1 Lead and 1-2 Co-Teacher to open up our Infant classroom this Winter, caring for up to 8, 6 weeks-24 month olds (1:4 ratio). This may be a full day or 1/2 day position. We follow the RIE pedagogy. This is the second class to open Winter of 2022.
Mandatory Staff Training and Prep: December 6th - 17th
Winter break Dec 20th - 31st
Infant and Toddler room opens January 3rd 2022 - June 17th, 2022
Preschool & Kindergarten Teachers: We will be hiring a Lead and Co-Teachers to expand our Preschool and Kindergarten classroom, caring for up to 20, 3-6 year olds (1:10 ratio) for the Fall of 2022. This may be a full day or 1/2 day position.
Toddler Teachers: We will be hiring a Lead and Co-Teachers to open up our Toddler class caring for up to 10 two year old students (1:5 ratio) for the Fall of 2022. This may be a full day or 1/2 day position.
Start Date and Timeline:
Mandatory Staff Training and Prep options:
- June of 2022 if coming on for Camps
- August 21st 2022 if coming on for just the school year
Homemade vegetarian lunches and snacks; supplements, paid time off, and more substantial benefits to begin Fall of 2022 - currently assessing what sort of benefits our staff is interested in.
All full time teachers will be salaried, which gives up to 23 paid days off a school year, in addition to 40 hrs of PTO
We ask for a minimum of a 1 year commitment for Co-teachers and a 2 year commitment for Lead Teachers.

Pediatric CPR and 1st Aid Certificate
Oregon Food Handlers Card
Enrollment in the Background Registry
Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety (ICCHS)
Safe Sleep Training
Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect
Additional infant training needed in the infant classroom plus training in RIE pedagogy
Knowledge of and/or experience in a Waldorf early childhood environment is highly sought after!
