We are seeking an experienced Waldorf Early Childhood educator to join our community of innovative educators, beginning with the 2022 school year. The ideal candidate is WECAN certified and is able to offer a full outdoor program. Because of COVID-19 all classes are based outdoors, but each class also has an indoor classroom. Our classes have access to a full complement of nature experiences: woodland, forest, and garden, and in walking distance, the magical Sligo Creek.

We are looking for an organized, skillful communicator who works well with colleagues and parents, and is excited to join a team of teachers committed to the values of diversity and innovation. A strong understanding of child development and a capacity to provide parent support and healthy communication are essential. A bachelor’s degree (or 120 hours of college credit) is required. An interest in Anthroposophy is valued.

Interested candidates should send a letter of interest, resume, and three references to info@acornhill.org.

Acorn Hill Waldorf Kindergarten and Nursery is a well-established, 57-year-old school dedicated solely to early childhood education located in Silver Spring, Maryland just outside of Washington, DC. We are a Waldorf school and a member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN). We are nestled in a secluded wooded area on a six-acre site. Our beautiful campus includes playgrounds, forest trails, and gardens. We are a certified kindergarten and nursery licensed by the Maryland State Board of Education and a day care center licensed by the Office of Child Care, division of Maryland State Department of Education.

Acorn Hill commits to making our school a place where families, faculty and staff of diverse backgrounds feel welcomed and expressly valued. Our faculty and staff strive to bring students to an understanding and experience of the common humanity of all the world’s people–transcending stereotypes, prejudices, and divisive barriers. We will undertake the work necessary to prepare our children and ourselves for the challenges and joys of life in a diverse society.

All employees must meet Maryland State and Montgomery County licensing requirements. In addition, they need to pass a background check, including fingerprinting, and must possess the legal right to work in the United States.
