Spirit of the Lake Community School is excited to announce an open position for a full-time Business Manager.

Spirit of the Lake Community School is located near the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, MN. SLCS is an independent, community-based school that is deeply inspired by Rudolf Steiner's indications and serves children Preschool age to 8th grade with mixed age early childhood classes and combined grades.

This is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) position with a base salary of $38,000 plus increments for education and experience. Benefits include paid time off, full tuition remission, and HSA benefits. Desired Qualities
We are looking for a positive, passionate, energetic team member who is amicable, inviting, and is motivated to work within a sense of autonomy while maintaining a collaborative approach. This position requires the ability to multi-task efficiently, maintain strong attention to detail, and work within various decision making bodies. This position is offered currently at 1.0 FTE for the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal candidate would possess the following:
Bachelor’s Degree or AA degree with equivalent experience, preferably in a related field
Experience working in education, childcare, related non-profit administration, or other related project management preferred
Strong background in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector, or desire to learn.
Experience managing effective and clear communication in an organizational setting
Experience in Operations and/or Human Resource Management is preferred
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and approach problems creatively
Strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple priorities

Expectations and Responsibilities:
Responsible for overall financial management of the school, including daily bookkeeping, budget tracking and forecasting, tax reporting and filings, and collaborative tuition and budget setting
Responsible for customer billing, AP/AR, and public funding tracking and management
Coordinates and tracks purchasing, including classroom supplies, general office, and building supplies.
Manages administrative Human Resources duties, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration
Assists in the creation and development of school policies, handbooks, personnel forms, etc.
Manages general building and site operations, including office/technology management, maintenance scheduling, janitorial service management, and facility rental management
Coordinates parent and community volunteers and committees in building and site improvement projects
Assists in the creation, development, and tracking of short and long-range site improvement plans
Represents administration at monthly board meetings and regular leadership council meetings
