Tamarack Waldorf School is seeking Early Childhood Lead Teacher beginning January of 2022..

We are seeking applicants committed to teaching with enthusiasm and warmth; demonstrating effective classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. This candidate should also have an interest and desire to work in collaboration with colleagues and with the Anthroposophical principles of Waldorf Education. This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred. Candidates enrolled in Waldorf teacher training will be considered but will be expected to complete a Waldorf certification program.

The teacher will be responsible for providing a Waldorf Early Childhood education to our students in a mixed-age class. This position requires a deep understanding of Waldorf early childhood pedagogy as well as the ability to:
- Bring Waldorf curriculum to meet the needs of each child as well as the whole class.
- Assess the evolving needs of the children in the class through record keeping, including first grade readiness assessments.
-Work well with the parents and provide parent education on Waldorf education and create a healthy class community.
-Commit to self-development and have a growing relationship with Anthroposophy, serve the school through committee work, administrative responsibilities and work collaboratively with faculty, administration, and other school realms.

Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member school of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, encompassing early childhood through Grade 8, with a typical enrollment of 245 students. A culturally, economically, and racially diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region is guided through the full complement of Waldorf Education by Tamarack’s well-trained, innovative, and long-serving faculty and staff. Our faculty is committed to continuous growth and improvement, and our pedagogy is strongly rooted in Anthroposophy.

Our school has a strong early childhood program, and our grade 1-8 elementary program includes Spanish, environmental education, handwork and woodwork, art, cyber civics, physical education, music along with ukulele and pentatonic flute instruments. We also offer after-school sports and an extended care program.

The school is situation within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River, Lake Michigan, parks, playgrounds, and museums. Tamarack Waldorf School offers a competitive base salary of $30,000. Additional compensation, commensurate with experience and credentials, is added to the base salary. A full-time salaried faculty member is entitled to benefits: health, vison and dental insurance, professional development, and tuition reduction. The position begins in July 2022.

The hiring process includes, but is not limited to: a campus tour, classroom observations, one or more teaching demonstrations presented by the candidate, and a hiring interview with members of the current Faculty and Leadership Team. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicant.
