Tamarack Waldorf School is seeking a First Grade Class Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.
We are seeking applicants committed to teaching with enthusiasm and warmth; demonstrating effective classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. This candidate should also have an interest and desire to work in collaboration with colleagues and with the Anthroposophical principles of Waldorf Education. This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred.
Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member school of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, encompassing early childhood through Grade 8, with a typical enrollment of 245 students. A culturally, economically, and racially diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region is guided through the full complement of Waldorf Education by Tamarack’s well-trained, innovative, and long-serving faculty and staff. Our faculty is committed to continuous growth and improvement, and our pedagogy is strongly rooted in Anthroposophy.
Our school has a strong early childhood program, and our grade 1-8 elementary program includes Spanish, environmental education, handwork and woodwork, art, cyber civics, physical education, music along with ukulele and pentatonic flute instruments. We also offer after-school sports and an extended care program.
The school is situation within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River, Lake Michigan, parks, playgrounds, and museums. Milwaukee is rich in its cultural heritage and diversity celebrating it with many festivals and celebrations that take place throughout the year and city. As part of the Great Lakes Region, we are fortunate to have four distinct seasons of the year, with plenty of activities that take place to celebrate the changes of season. Tamarack Waldorf School offers a competitive base salary of $30,000. Additional compensation, commensurate with experience and credentials, is added to the base salary. A full-time salaried faculty member is entitled to benefits: health, vison and dental insurance, professional development, and tuition reduction. The position begins in July 2022.
The hiring process includes, but is not limited to: a campus tour, classroom observations, one or more teaching demonstrations presented by the candidate, and a hiring interview with members of the current Faculty and Leadership Team. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicant.
