Director of Student Support

The Denver Waldorf School is a Pre-K-12 school of around 315 students seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Student Support to begin with the 2022-23 school year. The Director of Student Support (DSS) coordinates a team of student support staff to provide multiple types of student support to address the learning needs and social needs of students attending The Denver Waldorf School. The DSS executes all aspects of DWS’s academic support program and works with faculty to integrate this program into the classroom.

 Responsibilities include:

·      Oversee 504 plans, including writing, implementing and renewing either directly or through supervising

·      Coordinate psychoeducational assessments, including Child Find, for students who need it

·      Ensure progress monitoring for all students grades 1-8

·      Supervise a team of student support teachers

·      Work one-on-one with high school students around study skills, executive functioning and other learning strategies

·      Observe classrooms and provide professional development to teachers to help implement 504s and other learning plans

·      Work with parents around their child’s student support needs

·      Coordinate high school student exchange program through SEVIS

 The ideal candidate will have:

·      Experience and expertise in special education including working knowledge of a variety of learning profiles, including ADHD, Executive Functioning, ASD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia

·      Familiarity with Waldorf education and/or anthroposophical therapeutic modalities

·      Familiarity with developing plans similar to 504s

·      A bachelor’s or master's degree in Special Education or related field

·      Strong interpersonal skills with both adults and children

·      Strong organizational skills

This is a full-time faculty position and pay for this position ranges between $50,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Available benefits include Health, Dental, Long-Term Disability, Retirement Plan, FSA and HRA plans, Tuition Remission for one child, PTO.
