Fine Arts Teacher
Green Meadow Waldorf School is seeking a Fine Arts teacher to teach 6th through 12th grade. We are seeking a teacher who understands how to work with a class and individually to foster powers of observation, develop artistic skills and encourage a positive relationship to art. The teacher should support and value the young artists as much as the art in order to support each student’s discovery of their own artistic process and potential
The middle school teaching will be part of main lesson work in collaboration with the class teacher. Themes from the main lesson curriculum may be explored in clay, watercolor, pastel, or other mediums
Themes for the curriculum:
9TH GRADE - Black and White
10TH GRADE - Applied Color Theory
1TH GRADE - Nature Observation
12TH GRADE - Portraiture
Green Meadow Waldorf School teachers participate in collaborative processes building professional colleagueship, including mutual support for one another’s work with students and parents, and curriculum development. Skills for building collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues including excellent verbal and written communication skills, cultural competence, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of professional engagement is required.
Experience teaching art in a Waldorf setting would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to engage students in meaningful artistic work is required.
This is a salaried position, 75 to 80 % of full time, 15 lessons/week approximately, depending on experience and availability. May also include teaching a high school main lesson block, History through (Visual) Art. We have an excellent studio space and Green Meadow has a comprehensive curriculum committed to the development of a full range of artistic capacities, early childhood through twelfth grade. There is an opportunity to teach art elective classes or offer after school courses.
