Early Childhood Assistant Teacher - Mixed Age Licensed Facility
Come work in a Waldorf Early Childhood classroom under an experienced teacher! Situated in the beautiful, sunny Sierra Nevada foothills, Sierra Waldorf School is fully accredited by AWSNA [Association of Waldorf Schools of North America] and WECAN [Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America], serving 130 students from early childhood through Eighth Grade. Our program takes a holistic and developmentally appropriate approach to early childhood education.
The Assistant Teacher participates in all aspects of the classroom work, including managing and preparing for classroom activities and the supervision of children during regular class hours, supervision of independent play, preparing snack, housekeeping and hand work support and duties, participation and support in story time and circle time ( singing, finger games, movement activities), helping the children to clean and tidy the classroom and child observation. Regular mentoring with EC Faculty. Fill in as lead teacher when the lead is absent.
The work of the Assistant Teacher requires the following minimum qualifications:
● Must be 18 years of age
● 6 core units of early childhood education and enrolled in at least two semester units at a college until fully qualified with 12 core units
● Experience working with children
● Assistant Teacher must pass, FBI and Child Abuse Reference Check (CAIC ) Fingerprinting clearance through Live Scan

The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs. Close vision is required for detailed work. Required work will take place outside and in a classroom and will frequently be noisy. Working may require exposure to bacterial contamination.
This position reports to the Lead Teacher. It runs the duration of the school year, (end of August through mid June) excluding seasonal breaks and holidays, 32-36 hours per week including time for mentoring.
