Mancos Dragonfly School is a non-profit Waldorf inspired Nursery to Grade One school in Mancos Colorado. We are looking for the following teachers for the 2022/23 school year:

  • Lead Preschool teacher for ages 3 years 9 months to 4 1/2.
  • Afternoon Preschool Teacher (12:30pm-4:30pm)

The 2022/23 school year will be our fourth year! Our goal is to add a grade each year through third grade! 

Our morning teachers will have an experienced assistant who has Waldorf or Lifeways training. We currently have 8 incredible teachers, 5 who are taking the Explorations Course, several who have their Lifeways Certificates, and our director is a Waldorf early childhood teacher with 15 years' experience who is currently enrolled in the Waldorf Leadership Training through the Center for Anthroposophy. Our school strives to incorporate the Waldorf Pedagogy into all aspects of our school: teachers, administration, and Board. We have hired a Mentor for our faculty for the 2022-23 school year.

Our ideal teacher will have experience and training in Waldorf Early Childhood, as well as a bachelor's degree or Early Childhood Education credits. Our ideal teacher has a calm, nurturing, loving demeanor and enjoys ensouling the classroom. They love creating seasonal circle, singing in the mood of the 5th, storytelling, and offering therapeutic puppet plays. Our ideal teacher is competent with parent communication and works collaboratively with the faculty and administration. Our ideal teacher is enthusiastic about Waldorf education and protecting the young child's senses during the first seven years. Our ideal teacher knows how to bring balance to the class through rhythm, repetition, and respect. We enjoy celebrating many festivals throughout the year, and bringing reverence, love, beauty, goodness, and truth to the children, parents, teachers, and community. We strive for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Our ideal teacher is in line with these visions.

Our morning program is from 8:30am-12:30pm, we have an afternoon program offered from 12:30-3:30pm. Our school week is Monday through Thursday, and our school year is September 6-June1.

The salary for our lead morning teacher is $25,000- $35,000, Depending on experience and education.

Our Afternoon teachers pay is $15-$17 based on experience and education.

Mancos is a small town, in a great location. The people are friendly and there is a lot going on in our down to earth community; music festivals, farmers market, open mic night, authors night, there are collectives, organic farms, and more! There is a consciousness to this town and surrounding areas. We are conveniently located between Durango, Cortez, and Dolores. We are near Mesa Verde as well as several other beautiful National Parks, and we enjoy all Four Seasons!!
