Grades Afterschool Care

Live Oak Waldorf School

Meadow Vista, CA, USA Remote

Part time

Sep 13

Live Oak is looking for an after-school care provider, who would be overseeing primarily first grade children from 12:45 to 3:15, at which time their siblings are dismissed. Then there are a small handful of children who remain in care until as late as 5:00. On Thursdays we have early dismissal for the whole school, and there can sometimes be more students including faculty children needing care. The position is from 12:45 to 5:15 daily, approximately 22.5 hours weekly. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Waldorf Education and have experience caring for children.

Our greater parent body is community minded and supportive, fully enjoying a return to concerts, lectures and festivals on our beautiful campus. Our grades programs offer many rich subjects including Spanish, Handwork, Woodwork, Music, Orchestra, and Movement Education. The dedicated and experienced educators of Live Oak hold true to the principles of Waldorf education, and we deeply value the integral roles of mentoring support and the invested work of the College of Teachers. Our faculty and Board of Trustees enjoy a warm collegial relationship and work collaboratively with our parent community to create an educational environment that is aligned with the ideals of Waldorf Education and the school's mission and goals.

Founded in the fall of 1976, Live Oak is fully accredited by AWSNA and serves 200 children from preschool through eighth grade. Our community enjoys a 40 acre campus in Meadow Vista, California, in the Sierra foothills, 45 minutes east of Sacramento and 1 hour west of Donner Summit and nestled between the Bear River and the north fork of the American River. The surrounding area is an adventureland for the outdoor minded who enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and water sports including river rafting. The numerous trail systems are frequented by horseback riders, hikers, runners and mountain bikes.

Benefits include:

  • Employment among enthusiastic and supportive faculty and staff
  • Priority enrollment for children of hired faculty and staff
  • Full and partial tuition remission for children of faculty and staff
  • A school year calendar designed for sustainable teaching and learning
  • Living where you would vacation
