First Grade Class Teacher
The Detroit Waldorf School seeks a First Grade Class Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.
We seek applicants committed to teaching with enthusiasm and warmth along with effective classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Candidates should also have an interest and desire to collaboratively with colleagues and with the Anthroposophical principles of Waldorf Education. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and a Waldorf Teaching Certificate. Applicants in the process of completing Waldorf Certification will be considered.
Our school has a strong early childhood preschool and Kindergarten program. The Grades 1-8 program includes German and Spanish, eurythmy, handwork, woodworking, art, music including orchestra and band, physical education, and an educational support program. We offer after-school sports, creative arts, and games activities, and an extended care and camps program.

The Detroit Waldorf School offers a competitive base salary of $43,000. A full-time salaried faculty member benefits include: health and dental insurance, retirement, professional development, and tuition remission. Additional compensation, commensurate with experience and credentials, is added to the base salary. The position begins in July 2023.
The hiring process includes, but is not limited to: a campus tour, classroom observations, one or more teaching demonstrations presented by the candidate, and a hiring interview with members of the Personnel Committee and College of Teachers. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicant.
