The Asheville Waldorf School is seeking an Early Childhood teacher for the 2023/2024 school year. This will be a full-time teaching position starting in the summer of 2023. Join our vibrant, growing community nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina. The Asheville Waldorf School is 12 years old. It is a member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN) and an associate member of the Association of the Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), serving children from Parent-Child classes through to Eighth grade. 

The ideal candidate will have completed their Early Childhood Waldorf teacher training and have experience in a Waldorf Early Childhood classroom. We seek teachers with a deep understanding of child development, an interest in anthroposophy, a love of working with young children, and the enthusiasm and energy to grow a developing school. The ideal candidate will enjoy being outdoors with children in all weather conditions. If you have Waldorf training and experience in a Waldorf classroom, please reach out to us. Outdoor education experience is a great plus!!

Lead Early Childhood Teacher roles and responsibilities:

~ Giving warmth, care, and love to the children while working in a healthy partnership with other teachers

~ Bringing developmentally appropriate outdoor Waldorf curriculum and rhythm to the children 

~ Fostering each child’s growth through observation, self-development, and artistic Waldorf teaching practices

~ Conducting enrollment interviews with families

~ Scheduling home visits for each new child 

~ Attending two weekly meetings

~ Cultivating strong relationships with parents through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and parent enrichment evenings

~ Serving on at least one school committee 

Benefits:

The base salary for the 2023/2024 school year is $34,500 plus additional pay based on the number of years worked in a Waldorf classroom.  

Full tuition remission for up to three children. 

Continuing education and mentoring funds.
