Summer Camp Instructor
Our mission at Spirit of the Lake Community School (SLCS) is to honor and educate the whole child by equally engaging body, mind, emotion, and spirit.This is a full-time, seasonal position for the duration of our summer camp program (June 19-August 18). Typical hours will be Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Each week of summer camp will provide a different nature-based theme and activity for the children and may involve off site activities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a safe and enriching atmosphere based on the Waldorf child development model
- Work collaboratively with other camp instructors
- Help maintain general order, cleanliness, and aesthetics in the environment
- Create a harmonious and nurturing atmosphere
- Maintain a high-quality, well-structured experience for the children
- Ensure high standard of ethics by providing for child and family confidentiality
- Contribute to the ongoing success and sustainability of SLCS
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Degree (or pursuing a degree) in Early Childhood Development or Education and/or Outdoor/Environmental Education
- Experience in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Knowledge of, or interest in, learning Waldorf education and philosophy
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to interact in a supportive manner with each child’s unique character and abilities
- Positive and proactive communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the children in our care
- Acceptance of cultural, racial, religious, affectional preference, and economic differences
Experience:
- Experience in caring for multiple children in a natural play environment
