Mālamalama Waldorf School is seeking an Accreditation Coordinator to join our team. The Accreditation Coordinator will work closely with faculty and staff to plan, schedule, and coordinate accreditation activities for multiple accreditation agencies including the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), The Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN).

Our School Community

Mālamalama Waldorf School offers preschool through Grade 8. Located in the residential subdivision of Hawaiian Paradise Park, nestled on a portion of our 20-acre parcel in a beautiful rainforest setting. Mālamalama Waldorf School was founded in 1978 by a group of devoted parents and educators. In 1979 MWS was incorporated as an independent, non-profit educational and cultural organization in the State of Hawai`i. The school is a well-respected member of the Big Island community with 40+ dedicated years offering Waldorf Education, accredited by AWSNA, HAIS, WASC, and a member of WECAN. 

The Big Island of Hawai`i is rich in cultural diversity as well as boasting a most unusual landscape including an active volcano, ranch lands, beaches, and winter snow atop the majestic Mauna Kea. You can surf in the morning and don your winter apparel for a respectful visit to the summit in the afternoon.

Location: Mālamalama Waldorf School

Job Type: Part-time

Hours: Varies (between 5-19 hours per week)

Probationary Period: 3 months

Salary: Based on experience 

Responsibilities:

Submit necessary applications to accrediting bodies.

Familiarize self with the school's accreditation history: plans, updates, and visiting reports.

Familiarize self with accreditation protocol and procedures for HAIS, WASC, AWSNA, and WECAN.

Attend necessary training sessions when appropriate.

Establish a calendar for deadlines and dates.

Orient the school Board of Directors and staff to the self-study and accreditation process.

Establish a spirit of inquiry and self-examination.

Work with the school staff on the basic format of the School Report.

Support the formation of committees.

Assign and delegate appropriate work to the various committees for completion of self-study.

Continually check on the progress of the committees.

Collect necessary draft write-ups from committees.

Produce, duplicate, and submit necessary reports as well as School Implementation Plan.

Coordinate school accreditation visits to include housing, transportation, meals, and amenities.

Qualifications:

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent writing skills, proofreading, and editing skills.

Understanding of school operations.

Understanding of basic tenets of Waldorf education and openness to explore Anthroposophy.

Initiative and self-starter.

Proficiency in computer skills.

Ability to develop and follow through on both long and short-term projects.

Ability to prioritize and delegate.

Ability to work well with people and interface with various constituencies in a professional and supportive manner.

Motivated, objective, and sensitive to the needs of a small organization.

The successful candidate will have a practical understanding of the working life of the faculty, staff, and Board of Directors of Mālamalama Waldorf School. This position requires an understanding of Waldorf Education and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The Accreditation Coordinator will ensure that the best interests of the school are upheld in all matters.

The Accreditation Coordinator position is part-time, requiring flexibility in scheduled work hours as determined by the requirements of the accreditation process (not to exceed 19 hours per week).
