Lead Staff for On the Land Summer Camp
Simplicity. Magic. Adventure.
SUMMER CAMP AT GRACE FARM
-the way a summer should be-
Orchard Valley Waldorf School is currently accepting applications for Lead Staff for its On the Land Summer Camp programming at Grace Farm! If you are an experienced Early Childhood or Elementary-aged educator who LOVES to be in the outdoors with children, reveling in the magic and mystery of it all, please consider applying to join our team of highly-qualified and inspired staff!
This summer we are embarking on a new, but familiar summer camp experience at our basecamp in East Montpelier VT!! Encompassing over 55 rolling acres of farm, garden, forest, meadow, and an elbow of the Kingsbury Branch of the Winooski River, Grace Farm not only serves as the headquarters for our school year programs at Orchard Valley Waldorf School, but also as the hub of summertime magic.
Our summer On the Land camps run for six consecutive weeks beginning June 26-August 4 and serve children ages 4-13 years old. The children's days are planned carefully so that they are not only filled with predictable rhythms and routines, building upon each week that came before, but with plenty of time for new adventure and exploration. Our greatest hope is for candidates to not only be experienced, but flexible and ready to work in collaboration with other camp staff to provide a simple, magical, adventure-filled experience!

The two positions that we are looking to fill for this coming summer are for our 4-6 year old group (Apple Seeds) and our 7-9 year olds (Wild Violets). Please see camp descriptions below:
Apple Seeds: 4-6 years old: Pre-K through Rising First Grade
The youngest campers will make their home in our Kindergarten yards and playspaces, which are full of shady apple trees and apple seeds. During their days they will have plenty of time to play with old and new friends, visit with our goats and sheep, and enjoy the slower pace of daily gardening, forest walks, a long restful break and water play in the brook or sprinkler. Teachers will be bringing special activity to each day in craft, song and exploration. As the days are long, we are asking that the attending children be ready to participate in a day of activity without a proper nap-prior school or camp experience helpful!
Wild Violets: 7-9 years old
Our youngest Grades School campers will make their basecamp in the forest where the wild violets grow. They too will have plenty of time for play and exploration with friends, but this will be balanced with extra time for adventures and explorations in the meadows, fields and streams. They can look forward to seeking treasures during scavenger hunts, building forts and fairy houses, daily singing, stories, hammock siestas, and afternoon handiwork craft.
Staff are expected to arrive by 8:30 to prepare for the day and to remain until the children are picked up at 3pm. If hired the candidates will be expected to attend a three-day staff training prior to the start of camp.
