Job Title: Mixed-age Kindergarten Class Lead Teacher - Full Time

Reports to: Head of School

Start date: August 1, 2023

Job Description and Duties: Honolulu Waldorf School seeks a mixed-age kindergarten class lead teacher. We are looking for a person who loves children and is able to be attentive and nurturing. Lead teachers are expected to care for the children, develop a positive classroom community, and establish a classroom environment conducive to learning and child development that is also consistent with Waldorf philosophies, Additionally, a lead teacher communicates and works well with parents. Honolulu Waldorf School is a small school, so teamwork, collaboration, and a positive ready-to-help attitude are essential. All faculty are also expected to uphold and model the values and philosophy of a Waldorf school.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Previous lead teaching experience
  • Patch Registry and teacher qualifications under State of Hawaii childcare center licensing (http://patchhawaii.org/licensing-matrix-quick-view/)
  • TB Test and Background Check 
  • United States work authorization 
  • BA degree in any field or Associate Degree in Early Childhood or related field.
  • Waldorf teaching experience and training are preferred

The Honolulu Waldorf School is an established coeducational, independent school serving 185 students from Early Childhood through Grade 9. The school is located on a beautiful 2-acre campus in Niu Valley shaded by majestic monkeypod trees. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum, with specialty classes including Handwork, Hawaiian Studies, Japanese, Spanish, and music. Our campus is also home to a thriving Early Childhood program, and we have a giant tortoise, chickens, ducks, and gardens, which our students help care for.
