College Guidance Counselor
The Green Meadow Waldorf School is seeking a part time salaried college counselor: dynamic, inspirational, warm hearted, organized, experienced college guidance counselor to join our administrative team and high school faculty. This is a perfect position for someone who has experienced Waldorf Education from the inside! We need someone to represent the strengths of a Waldorf education to colleges and universities on behalf of our students, and to help students truly prepare for college.
A college guidance counselor offers support to students to help them realize their path towards the colleges that best fit their unique talents and interests. Starting in 9th grade the college counselor will let students know what is important and what is not important on their path towards graduation and college consideration. There is so much hype and stress in the college world and this person is a voice of reason in an unreasonable environment. Regular, individual meetings between counselor, student, and parents/guardians, are key components of this process. The schedule is flexible and will include campus time alongside remote working.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing needs and arranging test preparation resources for students
- Giving parents a picture of what is needed when and how they can best support their students
- Organizing meetings for parents throughout 11th and 12th grades, including a financial aid workshop and a college admissions workshop
- Meet college and university representatives and build relationships with them to support student admissions
Job requirements include a four-year college degree (advanced degree preferred) and administrative experience and skills. A commitment to Waldorf Education is essential; college counseling experience is strongly preferred.
Waldorf Education advocacy is really important-helping colleges understand why Waldorf Education is a great preparation for any university setting.
