Grades Teachers
Guided by the principles of Public Waldorf education, Desert Sky Community School has been a small K-5 charter school in sunny Tucson, Arizona since 2006. Our Grades students experience music, handwork, movement, and foreign languages. The AZ State Board for Charter schools has renewed our charter for 20 years. Desert Sky Community School campus is located in a residential neighborhood across from a small public park. With a diverse board committed to Waldorf education and a school building as orange as our glorious Tucson sunsets, Desert Sky is a school where students prepare for their future, whether they continue in Waldorf education or not. Desert Sky is an active member of both the Arizona Council for Waldorf Education (ACWE) and the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education (APWE).
We are seeking teachers to join us for the 2023-2024 school year and beyond. The ideal applicant has excellent communication skills, rich teaching experience, and takes joy in both creative problem-solving and collaborative work. The teaching staff includes both full-time and part-time positions, and combined grade classes. Subject teachers sought in particular for foreign languages and music!
Prior training and knowledge of Waldorf Education are preferred, with the expectation that hired candidates will continue to attend professional development opportunities to deepen their understanding of public Waldorf education. Candidates must have the ability to meet state requirements for teaching grades 1 to 5 in a charter school. Prior training or experience in elementary grades is preferred.
