Applecreek Kids’ Club Mentor Aide

About Us

Applecreek Family Club is a small, private association of families who value relationships - to each other, our children, and the earth.

The Applecreek Kids’ Club is a benefit of this association and we contract with mentors to provide educational opportunities.   Our association is parent-led and our parents take an important role as volunteers within Kid’s Club.  As parents, we value ideas such as wild-schooling, child-lead learning,  and encouraging our children’s curiosity through an exploration of natural, outdoor settings.

About You

We are looking for a Mentor Aide that will work in daily partnership with the parents of Applecreek Kids’ Club and the lead Mentor to care for our 3-6 year old children in gentle and respectful ways, to guide our children in the wisdom of nature, mindfulness, and creativity.

You will be a good fit for this role if:

Your life purpose and desire is to work with children.

You follow a philosophy of respect when caring for our children, which includes gentleness, bodily autonomy, and choice with the absence of shaming, rewards and punishments, or bribing.

You have some experience as an educator either in forest schools or traditional settings along with trainings that supported your development.

You have a strong connection to your nervous system and understand that staying regulated and co-regulating our children is part of your job.

You are interested in instilling a passion for nature in our children

You are willing to help lead mentor build a program that has a predictable rhythm with the ability to be flexible and allow space for spontaneity

You are okay with close parental involvement and volunteering parents as integral to setting. All decisions (including hiring decisions) about Applecreek Kids’ Club are made through a community decision making process.
