Job Description 

Job Purpose Statement: As a member of the faculty at Desert Marigold School, the High School Math Teacher will collaborate in shaping the high school program that prepares our students to meet the realities of the present. 

Salary: $40,000 base salary (BA) plus increments for relative teaching experience and additional degrees and certifications. 

Hours: Full-Time Salaried 

Reports to: Executive Director and Faculty Realm Chairs

Qualifications: 

● Bachelor’s Degree required 

● Meets Arizona’s Standards for highly qualified teacher in subject area being taught

● Teaching experience in classroom/group settings 

● Waldorf Teaching Certificate (preferred) 

A Bachelor’s Degree in a math field and meeting Arizona's highly qualified status for teaching is required, and previous high school teaching experience is highly valued. Preferably, candidates will have received some Waldorf Teacher training and have Waldorf teaching experience. Responsibilities include teaching all grade levels (9-12) in math. 

Essential Job Functions: 

● Demonstrates knowledge of the developmental curriculum and teaching methods arising from the understanding of child development set forth by Rudolf Steiner. 

● Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors and colleagues in planning and implementing the educational programs of the school. 

● Develops performance objectives and lesson plans that meet Arizona Career and College Ready Standards (ACCRS) that also reflect the rhythm, timing and activities consistent with the core principles of Public Waldorf education. 

● Maintains a behavioral climate in his or her classroom conducive to learning, assists in maintaining acceptable student behavior, and cultivates an atmosphere that embraces diversity.

● Identifies and attempts to meet needs of individual students, is able to develop differentiated lesson plans. 

● Communicates with students and parents regarding educational progress. Prepares and issues grades on time. 

● Maintains plans and instructional materials in such a way that they can be utilized by substitute teaching personnel when the need arises. 

● Attends faculty meetings, required in-service training and other meetings as necessary.

● Is able to take initiative in a collaborative manner. 

● Able to meet Arizona’s Standards for highly qualified teacher in subject area being taught. 

Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities Required: 

Skills:

● Exemplary classroom management and discipline. 

● Strong administrative coordination and facilitation, listening, verbal, written and interpersonal communication. 

Knowledge: 

● Knowledge of Waldorf education 

● Knowledge public school operations desired 

Ability 

● Relate to, motivate, and challenge children and staff. Leadership in working with students, staff, parents and the community. Commitment to the concept of collaborative decision making. 

● Ability to collaborate with faculty in development of curriculum. 

● Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents. 

Physical Demands: 

Frequent: Standing, walking 

Occasional: Sitting, lifting and carrying 

Education required: Bachelor’s Degree, Waldorf Certification and Master’s Preferred 

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: AZ DPS Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, First Aid, CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens, Clear TB Test
