Movement & Games Teacher for students ages 5-14

The Ithaca Waldorf School (www.ithacawaldorf.org) is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic Movement & Games teacher for our Kindergarten and Grades program. Applicants should have teaching experience with children ages 5-14. Experience with Waldorf education is preferred but not required. Mentorship will be available from an experienced movement & games teacher who has taught this curriculum at IWS in the past. We offer professional development to support working out of Waldorf education.

Duties include preparing and teaching 12 movement and games classes per week for students in grades 1-8, plus attending one 2-hour faculty meeting per week. Applicants should have experience teaching movement and games to groups. Preferred candidates will have some familiarity with or interest in Waldorf education. This position can be combined with other open position.

Qualifications:

BA or BS preferred; or equivalent professional experience

Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred

Waldorf teaching experience preferred

Experience teaching grade school age students

Teaching, interpersonal, and student management skills

Strong communication and organizational skills

Adaptability; able to change work plan based on needs of particular class  

Responsibilities will include:

Teaching 12 classes per week, Grades 1 through 8.

Preparing specific dances for our MayFaire

Developing an understanding of the Waldorf approach to child development

Providing written mid-year and end-of-year reports for each student, in addition to communicating with parents throughout the academic year

Ability to collaborate and communicate with colleagues

Regular attendance at the weekly Faculty meeting

This is a 40% part-time position.

Salary for 2023/24: $14,250
