Early Childhood Lead Teacher

The Ithaca Waldorf School is seeking a warm and caring lead teacher to join our established Early Childhood program. Applicants should have a background in child development, as well as teaching experience with children ages 2 - 7. Experience with and/ or training in Waldorf education is desired. Mentorship will be available from a master Waldorf teacher, who has been with the IWS early childhood program for decades.
The independent, not-for-profit Ithaca Waldorf School is authorized by the New York State Department of Education to provide instruction for students in nursery through eighth grade. Currently, the Ithaca Waldorf school extends from Grade One through Eight, in addition to providing full day Early Childhood programs, which are fully accredited by the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (www.waldorfearlychildhood.org). IWS is currently an Associate Member School of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (www.waldorfeducation.org . The Ithaca Waldorf School is nestled in the New York Finger Lakes on an 80-acre organic campus composed of fields and forest. Our Faculty, Administration and Board enjoy a warm collegial relationship and work collaboratively to strengthen the school’s growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BA or BS preferred; or equivalent professional experience
Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred
Waldorf teaching experience preferred
Experience teaching early childhood
Interpersonal skills and team work
Strong communication and organizational skills
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Leading one of our two Early Childhood classes.
Regular written and verbal communication with parents
Facilitating at least three parent evenings per academic year
Ability to collaborate and communicate with colleagues
Regular attendance at the weekly EC and Full Faculty meetings

Starting Salary: $35,792 - commensurates with experience
