School Receptionist

Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School is seeking a School Receptionist for our Nursery-through-12th-grade Waldorf School. We are located in the beautiful Hudson River Valley region of Columbia County, NY, close to Hudson and not far from Albany and the Berkshires. We are seeking an individual with a warm and professional demeanor to work in our main office as a receptionist and as a administrative support for our teachers.

The successful candidate will serve as one of the first impressions of our organization for visitors to our school and for members of our school community. As such, this position requires a strong customer-service orientation, including a welcoming demeanor, skills with clear communication and the ability to maintain professional behavior and boundaries.

The receptionist is expected to arrive at school by 7:45 AM each day and to remain until 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday. This is a 10-month position with summers off.

This position also requires strong computer skills and administrative skills (in particular a high-level of comfort with Microsoft Office Suite), the ability to manage multi-tasking, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude.  We will expect this person to be trained with our Blackbaud database and to help with the tracking of information. Prior reception/administrative-support experience is essential. Familiarity with Waldorf Education is highly desirable.

Established in 1973, Hawthorne Valley School strives to achieve the three-fold synthesis of education, art, and agriculture. Today the school serves approximately 300 students from nursery to grade twelve. Although primarily a day school, our school supports a diverse student population that includes international students. We are a full member of AWSNA and accredited by the NY State Association of Independent Schools.

Our school shares its campus with a 900-acre Biodynamic farm and is part of the Hawthorne Valley Association, which includes a working farm and retail store, a year-round program for visiting students from the region, and a Waldorf teacher-training program.

Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School is an equal opportunity employer and we encourage those from diverse backgrounds to apply.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to:
